Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how CodeQuill, operated by Ophelios Studio ("we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our Service.

1. Cookies

CodeQuill does not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or any third-party advertising cookies.

We use a single functional session cookie that is essential for the Service to operate. This cookie:

  • Maintains your authenticated session after login
  • Is strictly necessary and cannot be opted out of while using the Service
  • Is deleted when your session expires or when you log out
  • Is not shared with any third party

2. GitHub OAuth Data

When you sign in via GitHub, we receive and store certain profile information from GitHub, including:

  • Your GitHub username, display name, and avatar
  • Your email address (if publicly available on GitHub)
  • Repository metadata (names, descriptions, visibility) for repositories you grant access to
  • Organization membership information for workspaces you connect

We use this data solely to provide the Service. We do not sell, share, or distribute your GitHub data to any third party.

3. On-Chain Data

Certain actions you take within CodeQuill result in data being published to a public blockchain. This includes:

  • Repository claim transactions (GitHub repository ID, wallet address)
  • Snapshot Merkle roots and commit metadata
  • Attestation and release records

On-chain data is public and permanent. It cannot be modified, deleted, or made private after being recorded on the blockchain. This is by design — the immutability of blockchain records is what provides the verifiable proof of code provenance.

4. Data Retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your profile data from our systems. However, on-chain data created during your usage of the Service will remain on the blockchain permanently.

5. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. All connections to the Service are encrypted via HTTPS. API keys and sensitive credentials are stored using industry-standard encryption.

6. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the Service.

7. Contact
