Terms of Service

Last updated: February 20, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of CodeQuill ("Service"), operated by Ophelios Studio ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Service Description

CodeQuill is a memory infrastructure platform for software. It enables developers and organizations to create cryptographically verifiable, timestamped evidence of source code existence and ownership. Snapshots are anchored on the Ethereum blockchain for auditability and long-term provenance.

2. Accounts

To use certain features of the Service, you must authenticate via GitHub OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You agree to provide accurate information during registration and to keep your account credentials secure. You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems
  • Claim authorship of repositories you do not own or have authorization to claim
  • Use the Service to infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Automate access to the Service in a manner that exceeds reasonable usage

4. On-Chain Data

Certain actions within CodeQuill result in data being permanently recorded on a public blockchain (Ethereum or compatible networks). This includes but is not limited to: claim transactions, snapshot Merkle roots, attestation records, and release anchoring.

Blockchain data is permanent and immutable. Once a transaction is confirmed on-chain, it cannot be modified or deleted. You acknowledge and accept that on-chain data is publicly visible and cannot be removed by us or any third party.

5. Intellectual Property

CodeQuill does not claim ownership of any source code you submit or reference through the Service. The Service creates cryptographic proofs of code existence and hashes — it does not store, copy, or redistribute your source code.

All rights, title, and interest in and to the CodeQuill platform, including its design, branding, and underlying technology, remain with Ophelios Studio.

6. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ophelios Studio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of your use of the Service.

7. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify users through the Service or via email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violations of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. On-chain data created prior to termination will remain on the blockchain.
